War and Peace – Franklin Library 100 Greatest Series
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy is a part of the Franklin Library series of leather bound books, 100 Greatest Books of All Time. Offered to subscribers of the entire series from 1974 through 1982, War and Peace is bound in genuine leather with 22k gold accents, gilt page edges, and sewn in bookmark. This leather bound edition of War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy is a gorgeous collector’s edition and considered one of the most important literary works, making it a great addition to any library.
The Franklin Library closed in 2000 and War and Peace can now only be found through collectible booksellers, most of which list their titles on Amazon.
Identifying Leather Bound Version: It’s important to note that the 100 Greatest Books of All Time series was published in a faux leather version by Franklin Library in addition to the genuine leather version. It’s very easy to tell the two apart: only the genuine leather version includes the sewn-in bookmark. If you see a version with no bookmark, then it is not a genuine leather bound Franklin Library book. The faux leather versions should be considerably cheaper in the aftermarket than the leather versions.
